SMS Opt-In & Consent Policy
This page explains how Dane Injury Law, LLC obtains consent to send automated text messages to our clients, and how that consent is recorded.
Last updated: October 26, 2026
How Clients Consent
Dane Injury Law collects consent to receive automated text messages verbally. During telephone intake or client onboarding, a member of our team reads the client an opt-in script and asks the client to confirm whether they agree to receive text messages.
Clients who answer yes are enrolled to receive automated, non-marketing text messages related to their legal case, such as case updates, appointment reminders, document requests, and signature reminders.
Verbal Consent Script
The exact script read to clients during telephone intake or onboarding is:
“Dane Injury Law would like to send you automated text messages about your legal case, including case updates, appointment reminders, document requests, and signature reminders. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for assistance or STOP to opt out. Do you agree to receive these messages? Please answer yes or no.”
Key Points
- Consent is obtained verbally during telephone intake or client onboarding. No form or online sign-up is required.
- Messages are automated and relate only to the client's legal case. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages to client numbers.
- Only clients who expressly answer “yes” are enrolled. If a client declines or does not consent, no case-related texts are sent to that number.
How Consent Is Recorded
When a client gives affirmative consent, we record the details of that consent, including:
- The client's phone number
- The date and time consent was given
- The client's response (the client's answer of “yes”)
- The opt-in script the client was read
Only clients who expressly consent are enrolled. After enrollment, we send the client a one-time confirmation text message so their opt-in is documented.
Message Frequency, Help, and Opt-Out
Message frequency varies based on the activity in a client's case. Message and data rates may apply.
Clients can reply HELP for assistance at any time, or reply STOP to opt out and stop receiving text messages. Opting out of text messages does not affect our representation of a client's case.
Privacy and Terms
Our handling of your information is described in our Privacy Policy, and your use of our services is governed by our Terms of Service.
